Info About Cialis®

What is Cialis®?

CIALIS® is a prescription medicine taken by mouth for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. CIALIS® (pronounced see-AL-iss) was shown to improve erectile function compared to placebo up to 36 hours following dosing. In clinical studies, the ability to have sexual activity was improved in some patients at 30 minutes after taking a dose. ED is a condition where the penis does not harden and expand when a man is sexually excited, or when he cannot keep an erection. A man who has trouble getting or keeping an erection should see his doctor for help if the condition bothers him. CIALIS® may help a man with ED get and keep an erection when he is sexually excited.

How does CIALIS® work?

When a man is sexually stimulated, his body's normal physical response is to increase blood flow to his penis. This results in an erection. CIALIS® helps increase blood flow to the penis and may help men with ED get and keep an erection satisfactory for sexual activity. Once a man has completed sexual activity, blood flow to his penis decreases, and his erection goes away.

Important Safety Information for CIALIS®

Don't drink alcohol in excess (to a level of intoxication) with CIALIS® , as this may increase your chances of getting dizzy or lowering your blood pressure. CIALIS® does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV. The most common side effects with CIALIS® were headache and upset stomach. Backache and muscle ache were also reported, sometimes with delayed onset.

As with any ED tablet, in the rare event of an erection lasting more than 4 hours, seek immediate medical help to avoid long-term injury.

In rare instances, men taking prescription ED tablets (including CIALIS® ) reported a sudden decrease or loss of vision or hearing (sometimes with ringing in the ears and dizziness). It's not possible to determine if these events are related directly to the ED tablets or to other factors. If you have a sudden decrease or loss of vision or hearing, stop taking any ED tablet, including CIALIS® and call your doctor right away.

CIALIS® is available by prescription only. For additional safety information, talk to your doctor about this medicine and see the full Patient Information.
